Two rings of the same radius 0.2 m are placed at right angles.  The rings carry equal currents of 10 A.  What is the magnitude of the magnetic field at the center of this arrangement of rings?  Draw a diagram showing the direction of this magnetic field.



The magnetic field of each ring is shown in the sketch above.  Since both rings carry the same current and have the same radius, the sizes of the fields at the center of the rings are the same.  These fields are added vectorally to obtain the total magnetic field.
