Title of Paper: Computer-Based Plasma Physics and Fusion Energy Educational Materials from CPEP

Abstract:

Introductory materials on fusion energy and plasma physics are being developed by a group of fusion researchers and high school and college teachers under the auspices of the Contemporary Physics Education Project (CPEP). The materials presently under development for use in introductory physics courses include a classroom chart, "Fusion - Physics of a Fundamental Energy Source"; an instructor's guide to accompany the chart; experiments and demonstrations; interactive computer simulations; video presentations; and CD-ROM and Internet-based presentations. This paper presents information on a variety of computer-based materials, with the focus on the new Fusion Energy educational Web site on the Internet, which extends the information presented in the other CPEP Fusion materials. Other ongoing and future projects will also be discussed.
