Fusion Group, Contemporary Physics Education Project
The Contemporary Physics Education Project (CPEP) is a non-profit organization
of teachers, educators and physicists working to create educational materials
on contemporary physics topics for use in introductory physics classes.
The Particle Physics Project:
CPEP's first project was to develop materials on particle
physics; this project led to a classroom wall chart "Standard
Model of Fundamental Particles and Interactions" and a large
range of additional materials. More information on CPEP and the
particle physics project is available at the
CPEP Web Site.
The Fusion Project:
In 1994 CPEP created a new working group to develop educational
materials on Fusion Energy (and Plasma Physics). Three subcommittees
were formed: one to create a Fusion classroom wall chart (the
"Chart Committee"), one to develop demonstrations and other
hands-on activities (the "Toys Committee"), and a third to develop
multimedia presentations, computer simulations, and other educational
tools (the "Multimedia Committee"). This Web site is an online home
for the Fusion Project, and is also home to the online projects
produced by the Multimedia Committee, such as the Interactive Web Course.
